Saab Seaeye has announced that Modus is adding a second Saab Seaeye Sabertooth to its Hybrid AUV (HAUV) fleet.

According to Saab Seaeye, the Sabertooth AUV will be equipped with extended autonomous endurance and increased thrust for high speed survey. Additionally, the AUV will be ready for the integration of advanced and high-resolution sensors for various applications and operations, the company says.

“It’s great to receive further orders from Modus, it is a proof from the customer that they are satisfied with Saab’s unique AUV/ROV hybrid solution that we are continuing to develop for customers further needs,” says Saab Seaeye’s Anne-Marie Vösu, head of Dynamics business unit Underwater Systems at Saab Dynamics.

The Modus vehicle has the same advanced features as Saab’s military hybrid AUV/ROVs, combined with Saab Seaeye’s technology, which includes iCON intelligent control behavior-based architecture.

Saab Seaeye notes that its Sabertooth AUV is the only roaming and hovering system with 360-degree orientation that can operate in both fully autonomous and tethered (ROV) modes, facilitating fully flexible dual operations from a single platform.

“We are continuing to bring to market highly differentiated capabilities as we develop not only a fleet of autonomous vehicles but also AI and machine learning methods for integrating data, data visualization, remote vehicle control and mission planning,” comments Jake Tompkins, CEO Modus.
