Webinar Description:
The future airspace will need to support a wide range of Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) operations in a manner that enables UAS operators to access the airspace fairly. CNA’s UAS Cooperative Airspace Traffic Simulation (UCATS) tool models the UAS flight planning process to provide insights into future scenarios. UCATS is an agent-based modeling tool that tracks individual operations through the process of proposing and deconflicting a flight plan. In this presentation, we will share the findings of a series of UAS flight planning scenarios that consider various types of operations and markets. Examples of operations that will be included are: operations with varying durations, operations of varying time-sensitivity, and operations with varying lead times. In addition, we will also assess the effect of temporary restricted areas on UAS operations. Innovative tools and data-driven analysis are necessary to help the industry plan for widespread UAS operations. The airspace must support different markets and types of operations, and simulation tools such as UCATS can be used to provide insight into future processes and airspace usage.
