Known for its mapless driving platform, autonomous vehicle software developer Imagry has partnered with AutonomouStuff, which will result in Imagry's technology being included in AutonomouStuff's portfolio of autonomy-enabling technologies for resale across the world.

Imagry will provide its efficient, scalable, and reliable mapless technology to AutonomouStuff customers looking to avoid the limitations of HD Mapping when developing and deploying their own autonomous technologies.

“The Imagry platform sets itself apart through an innovative approach to one of the most complex aspects of automated driving,” says Craig Johnson, senior autonomy product manager at AutonomouStuff.

“Imagry engineered a system that navigates without the need for previously created and continuously updated high-definition maps, aligning itself with our mission to enable, accelerate and deploy the future of autonomy.”

The companies note that when manufacturers are developing autonomous vehicle technology, they can use either HD mapping technology or mapless technology. Considered the most common approach, HD mapping is reliant on pre-built maps, which ultimately hinders the mass deployment of autonomous vehicles, according to the companies.

Imagry’s mapless technology doesn’t require a pre-built map to function, as it instead uses a vision-based approach to “see” the world in front of it. It essentially generates realizations of the car’s surroundings in real time, which allows the vehicle to quickly adapt to its environment.

“Our partnership with AutonomouStuff is another important step in the adoption of mapless technology that enables the industry’s need to scale autonomous transportation,” says Adham Ghazali, CEO and co-founder of Imagry.

“We view this alliance as an important endorsement and acknowledgement of our innovative and proprietary mapless technology for autonomous driving.”
