Teledyne Acquires RESON

By Danielle Lucey

Teledyne Technologies, parent company of the Gavia UAV, has completed the purchase of RESON A/S, the Denmark-based maritime acoustics company. The new division will be called Teledyne RESON, mirroring the company's previous maritime purchase nomenclatures.

“RESON is our thirteenth acquisition in our marine instrumentation group, which provides sonar systems, acoustic sensors and communication devices, harsh environment interconnects, and complete autonomous underwater vehicles,” says Robert Mehrabian, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Teledyne.

The Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based Teledyne acquired BlueView in May 2012 and gained majority ownership of Optech the month prior. These three purchases all point to higher unmanned underwater vehicle imaging capabilities for the company.

"We are also working to integrate terrestrial and marine imagery, as well as enhance our ability to deliver, in addition to an image, specific information about objects, the land and seafloor, and the water column,” continued Mehrabian.
