Today, SeeByte announced that it has integrated Tritech International’s Gemini sonar onto its CoPilot software, which was successfully demonstrated by Heriot-Watt University on its Seaeye Falcon 1256 remotely operated vehicle.

CoPilot uses a point-and-click software tool to allow pilots to fly the ROV. The integration with Gemini allows the pilot to point on the sonar data, and the ROV will move to the required coordinates.

“It was great to see the system in action; CoPilot is a very intuitive software package,” says Scott McLay, sales director at Tritech. “The combination of the Gemini and CoPilot in one integrated system really allows end users to get the most out of both the software and the sonar. This is another way in which we can add value to Tritech customers.”

CoPilot is available from the factory through VideoRay, Seatronics and SMD. It can be retrofitted onto any ROV, according to SeeByte.
