Near Earth Autonomy has received a NASA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award, which will enable the autonomous technology company to support NASA and its effort to safely integrate UAS into the national airspace.

Upon receiving the award, Near Earth Autonomy CEO Sanjiv Singh, said, “as unmanned aircraft are taking on these complex and hazardous conditions in low-altitudes, it is essential to have the technology onboard that will identify the contingency, adapt to the situation, and make the necessary modifications for a safe and successful mission.”

Near Earth Autonomy has worked with NASA previously on research surrounding the perception and planning for small UAS. Thanks to this new award, Near Earth Autonomy will work on developing technology and systems aimed at helping UAS operate in cases of unexpected contingency situations.
