Advanced Tactics Inc. of Torrance, California, has unveiled its new autonomous delivery system, which doubles as both a UAS and a UGV.

The system, known as the Autonomous AT Panther Air/Ground Robot, is available commercially, and has a variety of uses for its operators.

Directed by autonomous waypoint navigation, the system combines vertical take off and landing capabilities with off-road driving capabilities, and can carry up to 15 pounds of payload. The Autonomous AT Panther Air/Ground Robot can also be used with a variety of cameras to give the vehicle multiple points of views from both the air and ground.

Besides making deliveries, the UAS is also built to conduct building inspections, wildlife operations and search and rescue missions in a variety of terrains.

While this air/ground system is unique for commercially available autonomous technology, this isn’t the first air/ground system that AT has developed. The technology for the Autonomous AT Panther Air/Ground Robot is based off the company’s much larger Black Knight Transformer, which is a system for the military that is designed for casualty evacuation missions.

A news clipping from AT’s website described the system by stating, “simply put, it drives like a car and flies like a helicopter and can carry a lot of stuff.”
