Sharp Robotics Business Development is debuting its new Sharp INTELLOS Automated Unmanned Ground Vehicle, this week at an annual international security seminar and exhibits event. The A-UGV is fully autonomous once its route is programmed, but it can also be controlled by a human controller if necessary.

The Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV has a variety of unique features. With a run time of eight hours, it is capable of capturing video, audio and environmental data in an effort to enhance surveillance, security, safety and maintenance efforts for companies. Its advanced technology allows it to detect vandalism, trespassing, theft and other dangers, and it also has lidar technology that helps it avoid objects when unattended.

“When it comes to the shifting demands of private and public sector security, the industry integrators and their customers will now have a safe, reliable and cost-effective robotic tool working to safeguard people, assets and infrastructure,” says President, CEO and Chairman of Sharp Electronics Corp. Doug Albregts in an article with Security Sales & Integration.

In the same article, David Antar, president of security organization IPVideo Corp, adds, “The Sharp A-UGV fills the gap that has existed in true situational awareness and real-time data collection for customers in search of comprehensive surveillance. During my nearly 30 years in the industry, rarely have I been this excited about a new product launch.”

Some of the places that could most utilize these vehicles include airports, power and utility areas and government facilities.
