County commissioners in Manatee County, Florida recently approved a contract with Archer First Response Systems LLC, for the county’s first life-saving drone. At the discretion of 911 telecommunicators, the drone would be dispatched to deliver an AED, a tourniquet and Narcan to callers while they wait for an ambulance to arrive. (EMS1.com)

Springfield airport in Springfield, Ohio is being used as a testing site for commercial drone opportunities. Most recently, a New Jersey-based developer and producer of advanced communications and networking equipment called TELEGRID Technologies Inc. launched its "Drone Express" UAV into the skies above Springfield. The goal of the flight was to test the aircraft's ability to potentially deliver packages beyond the visual line of sight (BVLOS). (Dayton Business Journal)
