As a result of a partnership with Silvus Technologies, hybrid-electric UAS provider Skyfront has combined its five-hour endurance Perimeter UAS with Silvus’ high-power StreamCaster radios, resulting in the Perimeter XLRS, which can fly for up to five hours while maintaining command and control links and streaming real-time video up to 60 miles from the ground control station.

“We are very excited to be partnering with Silvus Technologies to bring long-range aerial platforms into the mainstream,” says Troy Mestler, CEO of Skyfront.

“The integration of the StreamCaster into the Perimeter line of UAVs has enabled it to fully utilize its extreme endurance and fly beyond-line-of-sight (BVLOS) missions with ease.”

According to Skyfront and Silvus, the partnership has allowed UAS operators to perform various mission types across the world, including inspecting pipelines and power lines, and performing surveillance missions.

Thanks to being equipped with the StreamCaster radio, the Perimeter has a steady, reliable video and control link. The UAS can also operate in environments where other data links typically fail, such as in maritime, mountain, and jungle deployment, as a result of the StreamCaster's MIMO and beamforming technologies being able to successfully overcome range limitations, signal attenuation and multipath interference.

“The Perimeter XLRS's ability to support long endurance VTOL flight with the Silvus MN-MIMO waveform makes it a unique differentiator in the marketplace,” says Kasey Cooper, director of Unmanned Systems at Silvus Technologies.

Other notable features of the UAS include testing and integration with numerous sensor payloads; seamless power and harnessing; and the elimination of interference between GNSS unit and radio.
