Milrem Robotics has announced that it will deliver two UGVs to the United Kingdom’s Defense Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL).

With a goal of maximizing the impact of science and technology for the defense and security of the UK, DSTL is acquiring the UGVs to explore the capabilities and limitations of this technology in a variety of areas such as mobility, vulnerabilities and safety.

“The United Kingdom has a clear view on the importance of robotics on the battlefield and its impact on defense capabilities,” says Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics.

“This is illustrated by the two large-scale robotics programs in which Milrem Robotics is currently participating in the UK.”

Milrem is providing the vehicles to DSTL in partnership with QinetiQ. QinetiQ will equip the vehicles with their autonomous functions, and will also arrange transfer to the end user.

Milrem Robotics and QinetiQ are also working together in the two large-scale robotic programs that Väärsi mentioned. The programs—Joint Tactical Autonomous Resupply and Replenishment (JTARR) and Robotic Platoon Vehicle (RPV)—are both worth over £50 million per program.

Thus far, Milrem Robotics' THeMIS UGVs have been sold in countries across the world including the US, the UK and Germany.
