Aeroprobe Corporation, which is a global producer of air data measurement tools to aerospace, automotive, turbomachinery, wind turbine, and wind tunnel industries around the world, has added two new Micro Air Data Computers (μADC), the Pegasus and Destiny models, to its product line.

These models offer the accuracy and economical size of Aeroprobe’s current models, while introducing new and streamlined features.

Used to collect and process air flow data across a variety of applications and industries, μADCs offer a “complete system for air flow data acquisition and analysis” when used in combination with an air data probe like those from Aeroprobe’s extensive product line.

In the unmanned systems industry, these products are used mainly for avionics, to gather real-time air data for increased flight performance and stability.

The mobility of this system is utilized by other industries to make measurements in remote locations or on board moving platforms.

An example of this is the wind turbine industry being able to evaluate wind characteristics in real time so that it can use that information to modify the pitch of the turbine blades to maximize power output. Vehicle aerodynamics can be maximized thanks to trucks and other motor vehicles having the ability to respond to real-time wind data.

An Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) is included in one new model, providing a variety of attitude information such as roll, pitch, and yaw.

Some other new features include “an RTD input for low-noise air temperature measurement and a quick disconnect pneumatic connector for a faster and easier setup process.”

All models include standard airspeed, angle of attack, angle of sideslip, and barometric altitude measurements, but they also include external GPS synchronization, field programmable firmware and data logging or streaming capabilities in a small, light-weight and low-power package that is similar in size and weight to a cellphone.
