Kongsberg Geospatial, along with its partners Skyports, will demonstrate how Kongsberg’s IRIS UxS enabled on-demand drone deliveries for the UK National Health Service.

Skyports recently completed a 3-month medical drone delivery project together with partners Deloitte and Vodafone for the NHS in Scotland. The project was funded by the European and UK Space Agencies.

During the project, Skyports operated over 14,000km BVLOS along 3 different routes of which the shortest was 12km and the longest 55km. In total, over 11,000 hours of pathology sample waiting time were saved for patients and the drones demonstrated an overall 90% reduction in average transport time. The projects showed that drones can also be used for rapid response missions with the average mission taking 1 hour and 20 minutes from the medical staff entering the order in the online system to the samples being delivered at the destination location.
