Endeavor Robotics to provide improved UGV capabilities for the US Government

Endeavor Robotics is responding to an order worth more than $15 million for the US Government for upgrades and accessories to support fielded robot systems.  The company says that it is prepared to “rapidly deliver all items and remains dedicated to providing solutions to the US Government and global customers” as quickly as possible due to the “lifesaving nature of the company’s products.” “We are a highly responsive, customer-focused, agile company that stands positioned to rapidly provide upgrades, accessories, and new platforms whenever called upon by our customers,” says CEO Sean Bielat.

LLamasoft and Zipline partner to boost performance of public health supply chains using UAS

LLamasoft, which provides supply chain optimization technology, has partnered with Zipline, which operates the world’s only UAS delivery system of national scale, and sends urgent medical supplies to patients regardless of their location. The two companies have been working together to simulate Zipline’s operations, and evaluate the cost and performance benefits that LLamasoft’s technology can bring to existing public health supply chains. Since last October, Zipline has been operating in Rwanda, and the company is preparing to expand its operations into Tanzania.

This two day experience will highlight issues and pursue answers for questions the industry is facing in the certification, evaluation, and regulation of unmanned systems. Plenary speakers, interactive panels, and demonstrations will feature leaders from industry, government and education. Participants will spend time at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, the largest state transportation research group in the US, and visit with the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership, one of seven federally-approved test ranges for unmanned aerial systems in the US.

Unmanned Applications Institute International and ISight RPV Services merge to form Midwest Drone Group

According to the Grand Forks Herald, Unmanned Applications Institute (UAI) International and ISight RPV Services have merged together to form the Midwest Drone Group. The two companies, which are both stationed at the Center for Innovation on the campus of the University of North Dakota, have a combined 11 employees that perform operations across 15 states. “The last couple of years we have been working very closely together -- sharing people, sharing assets,” says Tommy Kenville, the Midwest president who founded UAI.

Through a new strategic partnership between Little Arms Studios and SkyOp, LLC, Little Arms Studios' Zephyr Drone Simulator will be deployed throughout the SkyOp commercial and consumer UAS training network that serves a large part of the Northeastern United States. Zephyr’s unique Learning Management System makes it the preferred option for SkyOp instructors that want to observe the development of each student inside and outside the classroom.

DJI partners with South Korea’s Zanybros to provide UAS for filming and production projects

In an effort to take “video content creation to new heights,” DJI has partnered with Zanybros, which is South Korea’s top production house that specializes in music video and commercial filmmaking. Through this strategic partnership, DJI will provide its hardware and technical support to the future filming and production projects by Zanybros. There are also plans to work on training programs for professionals—specifically those in the music and entertainment industry—to find new and innovative ways to produce Korean-Pop (K-Pop) content.

TuSimple to test driverless trucks in Tucson, Arizona after opening new office

TuSimple, which is a company based in China that is developing driverless commercial trucks, has opened an office in Tucson, Arizona, which will allow the company to test and demonstrate its vehicles in the city. This will be TuSimple’s second office in the United States, as the company also has an office in San Diego. “We believe that by leveraging the autonomous truck technology, we can help local economic growth by making Tucson the new nexus for [transportation logistics], and also sprout new job opportunities,” says TuSimple co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Xiaodi Hou, via Arizona Public Media.

Lockheed Martin to pair its Indago UAS with MyDefence Communication’s KNOX Counter-UAS System

Under a new development agreement, Lockheed Martin will pair its Indago quadrotor UAS with the MyDefence Communication KNOX counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS). ​By pairing the systems together, Lockheed Martin and Denmark-based research and development company MyDefence Communication hope to achieve rapid response aerial surveillance capabilities, which will give users the ability to “quickly and effectively detect adversaries and record evidence that could be used for prosecution.” The KNOX system is an “anti-drone alarm and protection capability paired with Indago to gather real-time information about a suspect drone and its pilot.”
