Think your operation has what it takes to be a Trusted Operator™ Accredited Training Provider? AUVSI is always looking for high quality institutions that have demonstrated their commitment to remote piloting excellence to become a part of the Trusted Operator™ Certification process. If you own or operate a Remote Pilot Training School or collegiate program, join an elite group of Certified Trusted Operator™ Training Providers who have been accredited by AUVSI, to train and assess students to meet Trusted Operator™ protocols.
As a Trusted Operator™ Training Provider, you’ll further educate remote pilots who have already demonstrated an understanding of Part 107 regulations, to advance their knowledge and skills to become Trusted Operator™ Operator™ Certified.
Process
The process for Trusted Operator™ Service Provider Certification and Training Provider Accreditation is as follows: Self-Assessment (This assessment is to be completed by the organization prior to applying)
- Organizations download the Protocol Certification Manual (PCM) and familiarize themselves with Trusted Operator
- Organizations determine the Level of certification, and accreditation if seeking to be a Training Provider, based on the risk, complexity, and nature of the organizations UAS operations
- Organization reviews the protocols for the level of certification/accreditation to determine readiness, and when ready, apply for certification/accreditation
(Note: It is highly recommended that the organization meets the number of required Remote Pilot and/or Remote Pilot Instructor certifications prior to applying)

Organizations (Applicants) request certification and licensing consideration by completing the prescreening form.

AUVSI, as the governing body for the Trusted Operator Program™, will review the submission for eligibility – once it is determined that an applicant is eligible, they will receive notification and an onboarding call will be scheduled.

When Applicants are ready to move forward with the assessment process, an application is submitted and an application fee is paid (outlined below).
Prepare

The Applicant will be issued an Organization Implementation Guide (OIG) and a Pre-Assessment Checklist (PAC) to assist in their preparations for the assessment.

When the Applicant is ready for the assessment, they will submit the PAC to AUVSI for review.

If determined ready, an assessment fee and 50% of the license fee is required (outlined below) and a Trusted Operator™ Audit Company is assigned.
Audit

The Audit Company will coordinate with the Applicant to schedule the assessment, typically conducted virtually.

Once Assessment begins, it will take an estimated 8 to 36 hours to complete the assessment depending on the level of certification and desire for training provider accreditation (outlined below).
Certify

Once the Assessment is complete, AUVSI will review the audit reports and findings and if the organization is deemed to be in compliance with the PCM requirements, Trusted Operator™ certification, and accreditation (if applicable), will be granted. At that time, the remaining 50% of the license fee (outlined below), and accreditation fee, (if applicable) will be collected.

If an Applicant is found to have not met the PCM requirements and fails the audit, there will be an opportunity to address the shortfalls. Please note that, no organization is guaranteed certification or accreditation.

If certified, Applicants will receive the Trusted Operator™ Certification and Accreditation (if applicable), and the organization will be included on the Trusted Operator™ Directory website.

LICENSE FEE
To initiate the assessment process, a non-refundable deposit of 50% towards final license fee must be paid. Once the organization has successfully completed the audit, the remaining 50% of the license fee is due.
Should an organization be deemed non-compliant of the PCM requirements with no resolution possible, the application fee and 50% deposit of the license fee is forfeited and will not be refunded.

TRAINING PROVIDER ACCREDITATION FEE The Training Provider Accreditation Fee is calculated based on the level of certification being taught and evaluated by the Training Provider. The fee must be paid upon the successful completion of the audit. This will be invoiced along with the remaining license fee balance. |

Organizational Assessment Costs
The following costs are associated with an organization’s official assessment against the Protocol Certification Manual, which is conducted by a third-party audit company. Fees are based on the estimated hours for completion for an organization who utilizes the implementation guide [provided in the application process.
Training Provider Compliance has a higher assessment cost, but includes the corresponding level of Service Provider Certification. Note: Training Providers must be Trusted Operator™ Level 2 or 3 accredited. There is no Trusted Operator™ Level 1 accreditation.
Assessment overages attributed to the organization being assessed will be billed hourly by the Audit Company.
