Robotic Skies to support Alpha Unmanned Systems' commercial UAS

Alpha Unmanned Systems has selected Robotic Skies Inc. to develop and implement a global support plan for its current and future commercial UAS, which currently features the company’s flagship product, the Alpha 800 unmanned helicopter. ​The Alpha 800 has a flight endurance of more than three hours, a payload capacity of three kilograms and a range of up to 30 kilometers (18.6 miles). Through its network of worldwide service centers, Robotic Skies will provide a warranty program and field support management for Alpha Unmanned customers.

Alert Innovation's Alphabot system designed to augment Walmart's online grocery service

Walmart, in collaboration with a startup company called Alert Innovation, is set to launch a pilot using “first-of-its-kind automation” to help associates fill online grocery orders “faster than ever before.” Walmart will use Alert Innovation's Alphabot system to augment its online grocery service, which allows customers to quickly and conveniently order groceries online, select a pickup time and have those groceries delivered to their car in minutes. Alphabot will work behind the scenes to make this process even easier by automatically bringing items from storage to associates, who will then consolidate the items in the order.

DJI set to open first UAS arena in Japan

On Oct. 21, DJI will open its first UAS arena in Japan called “DJI Arena By JDRONE Tokyo.” A variety of capabilities and features will be offered at the arena, including a flying area that is equipped with safety nets and an adjustable circuit for those that are interested in testing their flying skills. This area will also give UAS enthusiasts a place to fly year round regardless of weather conditions outside. The arena also has a retail store, which will showcase the company’s consumer, professional, and enterprise products, giving customers the opportunity to purchase the latest technology released by DJI. Technical support will also be offered at the arena.

Drone Delivery Canada to provide deliveries via UAS to Moose Cree First Nation in Northern Ontario

Drone Delivery Canada (DDC) and Moose Cree First Nation have entered into an agreement to start a commercial program that will use DDC’s UAS delivery system to make deliveries to the community located in northern Ontario, Canada. DDC, which is collaborating with federal regulators and community stakeholders, is ready to begin commercial test flights within the Moose Cree geography. Mail, food, medical supplies, and general goods are some of the things expected to be delivered via UAS.

LLamasoft and Zipline partner to boost performance of public health supply chains using UAS

LLamasoft, which provides supply chain optimization technology, has partnered with Zipline, which operates the world’s only UAS delivery system of national scale, and sends urgent medical supplies to patients regardless of their location. The two companies have been working together to simulate Zipline’s operations, and evaluate the cost and performance benefits that LLamasoft’s technology can bring to existing public health supply chains. Since last October, Zipline has been operating in Rwanda, and the company is preparing to expand its operations into Tanzania.

Drone Delivery Canada partners with TECSYS to develop UAS delivery system

After signing a commercial agreement, Drone Delivery Canada (DDC) and TECSYS Inc. will work on designing, developing and implementing a UAS delivery system, in an effort to “expand the logistics capabilities of TECSYS specifically in the healthcare vertical.” TECSYS Inc. provides supply chain systems for health systems and hospitals. “Working with TECSYS, we see great opportunities to serve the healthcare sector across North America,” says Tony Di Benedetto, CEO of Drone Delivery Canada.
