ScanEagle Gets Spot on Coast Guard Cutter

Today, Insitu announced that it will provide unmanned aircraft systems services through its ScanEagle platform on a Coast Guard National Security Cutter. 



The contract, which is initially worth $4.5 million, has three one-year options. It includes operation, integration, maintenance and the platform. The task order has a total potential value of $12.3 million, with options like deployment of and data from a prototype SUAS up to three additional years after the base year. 



The Coast Guard has a history with the ScanEagle, using it in July 2015 over the Northwest Passage for a simulated search-and-rescue exercise.
