Drones are being used to survey seven UC natural reserves that were damaged during August wildfires. The drones are revealing the extent of the damage, and providing scientists with data that can help them understand the long-term and short-term damage caused by the fires. (Phys.org)

Easy Aerial has launched a tethered drone in a box solution for enterprise and government customers called the Smart Aerial Monitoring System (SAMS) T-MINI. The new mini SAMS has a 320-foot data-over-power tether, which allows for constant and unjammable data to be sent back to the ground at a rate of 200 Mbs. (DroneDJ)

Stealth Technologies and Planck AeroSystems have signed an agreement to collaborate on enabling drones to autonomously launch and land from the Stealth ground based autonomous vehicle platform (AxV). Stealth Technologies is developing an Autonomous Security Vehicle (ASV) for perimeter security in sectors such as transport, energy, defense, government and utilities providing critical services. In Colorado, the Mesa County Search and Rescue Ground Team used a drone to find a missing hunter. The drone team is the newest addition to Mesa County Search and Rescue Control. The drone team currently has one large multi-rotor UAS with thermal, extreme optical zoom and high-quality UHD color cameras. There are plans to add more equipment, including fixed-wing aircraft and underwater vehicles. (Grand Junction Daily Sentinel)
