During the Joint Interagency Field Experimentation (JIFX) program from July 31 to August 4, WhiteFox Defense Technologies, Inc. demonstrated its DroneFox technology to a diverse group of U.S. military leaders.

WhiteFox says that the DroneFox, which is designed to detect, identify, and mitigate UAS with a multi-mile range, is the only system that allows operators to perform a threat assessment of UAS while whitelisting “friendly drones.”

Using a method called “red teaming,” the U. S. Department of Defense’s Defense Innovation Unit Experimental’s (DIUx) Rogue Squadron tested the DroneFox’s capabilities in an operational field environment against “red” UAS that were meant to replicate terrorist UAS.

For WhiteFox’s CEO Luke Fox, testing this technology is of the utmost importance, especially as threats overseas continue to emerge and put soldiers in harm’s way.

“The risks that drones pose to our soldiers increase daily. ISIS is using drones to deliver explosives and to coordinate their suicide bombings to maximize the number of people killed,” Fox says.

“Being able to perform field experimentation at JIFX is a critical step towards deploying the DroneFox overseas to stop ISIS’ drones.”

Testing of the technology took place at the Combined Arms Collective Training Facility (CACTF), which is a mock Middle Eastern town at Camp Roberts in California.

Additional testing was performed to demonstrate remote detection of UAS with the DroneFox from the Tactical Operations Center (TOC).
