As a part of its ongoing program “to thank its municipal clients for engaging InterDev’s to provide IT and/or GIS services,” InterDev, a provider of not only IT and GIS services, but also security services as well, recently donated a DJI Phantom 3 Professional UAS to the Dunwoody police department in Georgia.

According to Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan, the donation will greatly benefit the department’s UAS program, which will positively impact the Dunwoody community in the process.

“The Dunwoody Police Department’s unmanned aerial vehicle program will be enhanced by the generous donation from InterDev of this important technology,” Grogan says.

“It will help our department to continue meeting the service needs of the citizens of Dunwoody.”

The UAS will be used for a variety of missions, including the search for missing people, situational awareness, and hostage situations.

“UAVs are quickly proving their value for emergency response and tactical police work, from ensuring officers can enter an area safely to locating stranded or missing individuals quickly,” says InterDev CEO Gary Nichols.

“We deeply appreciate the trust our municipal clients have placed with us, and we want to reward them for that faith with something that helps them serve citizenry more effectively.”

With a flight time of up to 23 minutes, the Phantom 3 UAS processes information from its sensors, and in real time, it can also complete complex calculations.

The UAS is also capable of automatically logging and remembering the details of every flight, including time, distance and location, and route.
