AUVSI Member Companies on TIME 100 Best Inventions List

Last week, TIME released its annual list of 100 companies leading the way in transformative inventions. AUVSI congratulates Nuro and Einride, two companies that joined AUVSI this year, on receiving such a well-deserved recognition.  Their technologies are already making improving efficiency, access, and sustainability – and we have seen how the teams behind the tech are just as impressive as the vehicles themselves. As Advocacy members, we advocate on their behalf to key regulators and lawmakers to help deliver on our shared vision for the future of mobility and logistics.

MBZIRC Maritime Grand Challenge Provides Opportunity For Unmanned Systems Competition, Collaboration, Innovation

The Mohammed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge (MBZIRC) is a global competition designed to push the boundaries of autonomous robotics. With a total prize purse of over US $3 million, the challenge is held every two years in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and provides universities, research centers, companies, and individual innovators an opportunity to address global challenges through the development of autonomous robotic technology.

Unmanned Systems Defense – Phase III Highlights

This week AUVSI hosted Unmanned Systems Defense (USD), the association’s signature annual event connecting industry leaders with Department of Defense (DoD) officials to advance the front line of innovation.  As the Pentagon moves resources to address a new era of strategic competition, unmanned systems – in the air and space, at sea, and on land – will be the tip of the sword for U.S. competitiveness. USD bring together stakeholders throughout the defense segment of the unmanned systems industry to ensure investments and R&D efforts are aligned with the needs of end-users downrange.

How imaging and data support advancements in autonomy

As the pace of technological innovation continues to accelerate, new technologies are enabling higher levels of autonomy and supporting the safe deployment of systems across domains.   Compact, high-resolution visioning systems are critical to the advancement of autonomous capabilities in commercial and industrial applications. Teledyne Lumenera, part of the Teledyne Imaging Group, is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance digital cameras and custom imaging solutions that enable autonomous operations, from low-SWaP systems that can be integrated onto smaller platforms to systems that support the needs of larger Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

DOT Secretary Buttigieg visits Global Air Drone Academy

On a summer afternoon, a drone flew above the Global Air Drone Academy (GADA) in Baltimore, Maryland – but this time, it wasn’t being flown by a summer camp student learning about drones. This flight was piloted by Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, with the Mayor of Baltimore City, Brandon Scott, and the Academy’s students and mentors in attendance.
