DJI has released their new Mavic Pro unmanned system. At the size of just a water bottle, the Mavic Pro comes equipped with a number of unique capabilities that are expected to make it one of the most impressive UAS on the market.

“DJI has spent a decade making it easier for anyone to fly, and by rethinking everything about how a drones look, we have created an entirely new type of aerial platform for anyone to explore their creativity,” said DJI’s CEO and founder Frank Wang via a company press release. “Mavic Pro is a technological triumph filled with features that once again show how DJI leads the industry. Most importantly, Mavic Pro allows you to reach the skies easily, see the world with new eyes and tell your stories like never before.”

The Mavic Pro boasts a number of impressive features, but the most impressive might be its FlightAutonomy system, which is responsible for guiding the flight, planning routes and making sure that the UAS stays on course and avoids objects and other perilous circumstances. The FlightAutonomy system includes five cameras, GPS and GLONASS navigation systems, a pair of ultrasonic range finders, redundant sensors and 24 powerful computing cores. With an ample supply of innovative technology, DJI ensured users of the Mavic Pro the safest flying experience possible.

Other unique features incorporated into the Mavic Pro are a 4K camera, a 4.3-mile range capability, and the ability to land safely back at its initial launch point even if it loses touch with its controller. The Mavic Pro, which through its Sport Mode can fly up to 40 MPH, has a flight time of 27 minutes and can remain steady in winds up to 24 MPH.

For users who want to experience the flight through the eyes of their Mavic Pro, they can purchase a pair of DJI Goggles, which allow for users to see everything that the Mavic Pro sees while in the air. Features on the goggles allow for users to seamlessly switch between a third person view and an aerial first-person view (FPV).

The Mavic Pro is currently available for pre-order, and will begin shipping on October 15.
