The autonomous DevBot #1 race car recently made its debut on a street track at the Formula E Marrakesh ePrix in Morocco.

Developed by Roborace, the DevBot is designed to go nearly 200 mph.

“What we are doing is at the forefront of technology right now,” said Justin Cooke via CNN. Cooke is the CMO of Kinetik, an investment company that is providing financial backing for the project.

He added, “there are two or three kinds of space races, if you will — some people are going to Mars, we're developing robotic cars and I think it's probably one of the most, if not the most exciting space in the world right now.”

During its debut, the DevBot completed a 30-minute test on the track. According to Cooke, the next goal is to test two cars racing on the track together, with the eventual goal of having 10 cars racing competitively every weekend at the Formula E ePrix.

Cooke is excited about what the future holds, and hopes that the rest of the public will one day share his enthusiasm.

“More than anything we want people to be excited about the technology because it's going to change our lives, it's going to transform our cities.”
